CORRUPTION AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA: A FRAME WORK OF ANALYSIS

Abstract

Corruption and sustainable development are processes that have continuously played a major role in Nigeria’s national development. Using secondary method of data collection and analysis, this study exposed and unveiled that absence of, rule of law, constitutionalism, dedicated and willing, accountable and committed leadership among others as paraphernalia to sustainable development in Nigeria. Thus, inconsistency and lack of coherence in Nigeria’s national development apparatus became apparent. The paper further discovered that factors such as, poor states of economy, high level of unemployment, illiteracy, ignorance, and poverty were also considered as impediments responsible for the crippling sustainable development in Nigeria. Among others the paper recommends that critical appraisal of political and civil reforms are veritable steps towards ensuring a true and reliable sustainable development in Nigeria.
